Carbon Cycling Wheels

The most important upgrade anyone can make to their bike would be wheels. They really make a difference! But what kind of wheels should you get? Ultimately it comes down to how you ride and how much do you want to pay.

I did not want to spend much more then $1,000.00. Now I know that is hard to do with carbon wheels, so two of the the four carbon cycling wheels are a carbon aluminum hybrid.

The four carbon wheels-sets I was looking at

  • Bontrager’s Aeolus 5.0 ACC (local bike shop price $1250) 1,802 grams
  • Williams System 38s (999.00) 1,596 grams
  • Williams System 58s (999.00) 1,897 grams
  • Mavic’s Cosmic Carbone SLR (local bike shop priced me them at $1,600) 1,595 grams

Now, I am always trying to find the best value. I think these full carbon wheels from Williams look like they are just that. They are not the lightest, but they most definitely give you a lot of wheel for your dollar.

I think they are a great company too. Keith Williams (the president of the company) will answer any questions you can come up with. info@williamscycling.com He really helped me pick out the dish depth I should get.

In the end everyone needs to pick what works best with them as far as riding styles and looks, but keep in mind that wheels are a consumable product. Make sure you get something durable and that is a good value.
